The Lodge

For groups that have chosen to stay at The Lodge, we have a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities.

Inside, we have a game room complete with the following options:

Other activities that are possible because of our large, commercial quality kitchen:

Outside, Lodge guests have access to:

• Two full length basketball courts
• A Pickleball court (bring your own net, paddles and ball)

• Walking trails in the woods
• A private dock where you can fish, swim and park your boat
• A lakeside fire pit

Personal favorite activities at the Lodge include:

• Sitting on the patio and watching the loons swim
• Roasting marshmallows in the firepit when the sun goes down
  
• Sitting next to the fireplace and watching the snowfall
  
• Boating to the sandbar and playing water games, swimming, and relaxing

The Cottage

The cottage is great for smaller groups to stay and enjoy all that the area has to offer.

At the cottage, you’ll have access to:

• A deck that overlooks the lake
• A small, metal fire pit setback from the lake
  
• A private dock where you can fish, swim and park your boat

• The Potter's Shed in Shell Lake has many things to do including:
  • Shopping for art
  • Paint your own pottery

  • Friday nights in the summer they host "Music at the Shed" which is an outdoor music series.  It's a lot of fun with great local groups and pizza/beer/wine for sale.  Go early to get a seat as it's very popular.

  • Big Fish Golf Course is an 18-Hole Championship golf course in Hayward, Wisconsin. Rated one of the top golf courses in Northern Wisconsin it was designed by the world famous architect, Pete Dye.
  • Hayward Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 72 golf course that is a golfer-friendly experience. Challenging for the good golfer and charitable to the average and beginner golfer. Equipment Rental

Looking to rent a boat, jet ski, ATV or snowmobile? Checkout out one of the following rental companies.  Each can arrange delivery if you don't want to worry about hauling a trailer with your vehicle.

  • Most of our guests over the years have rented through M&M as they've traditionally had better rates.  Availability fills up quickly though so reserve your rental as soon as possible.

Lac Courte Oreilles Boat Launch

Lac Courte Oreilles has three public boat launches.

• The closest boat launch in Chicago Bay has ample parking, dock, and concrete launch. We recommend this launch for guests. Directions from Ackwood Lodge to the boat launch.
